Design work and project supervision for King Abdulaziz Public Library branch and the Library of Ancient Manuscripts at Beijing University in China

Project Brief:
  • King Abdulaziz Public Library Project at Beijing University, with a total area of ​​13,000 square meters, and total capacity of 3,000,000 books and ancient manuscripts. The project was established by an order from King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz in 2015 and opened in an opening ceremony honored by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2017. The project  contains the following:
  • Collection consists of (1,500,000) of ancient books bound with thread - including 200,000 only copy and (56,000) fifty-six thousand of scratch images of metal and stone antiques, as these rare documents do not only deal with Chinese culture. Rather, it deals with Arab and Islamic culture too.
  • Arabic Studies Center
  • First floor (main entrance - reading hall - lecture hall)
  • Second floor (40 administrative offices - main meeting room - VIP lounge - lecture room)
  • Third floor (administrative offices - book storage)
  • The mezzanine floor, which is a service floor
  • First basement floor (the main lecture hall with a capacity of 260 people, its annexed services, administrative offices, and warehouses).
  • Second basement floor contains book storage
  • Third basement floor contains book storage
